About Us
Fabiola Philippe
Fabiola Philippe was a sister, a mother, a daughter, and a friend. One year after her passing, her sister, Marie Philippe Remy, her daughter, Lydia Philippe, and brother-in-law Edmael Remy decided to come together to keep her memory alive by creating this foundation to bring awareness and to generate knowledge about addiction and mental health. Knowing all too well the pain, confusion, and loss that can come with addiction and mental illness, they decided to launch FAMHAS on November 30, 2018, to commemorate Fabiola’s 36th birthday. This marked the beginning of the journey to create a community where anyone going through or living with mental health and addiction, can have a safe place to freely communicate, ask for help, and find the support they need.
Fabiola’s Addiction and Mental Health Awareness & Support Foundation
The creation of FAMHAS comes from a place of love and hope, from those who have lived through the harmful effects of addiction and mental illness.
We host information sessions to raise awareness about mental health and addiction to the Black community in the Greater Ottawa Region.
As a non-profit organization, we are continuously working towards innovative ways to improve how the community access care and information about mental health and addiction.
Ultimately, we are looking to make a positive change in the areas of mental health and addiction.
These issues should not be faced alone, and you are not alone. We are here to help contact us whenever.
What We Do
Our outreach programs and educational sessions provide information and resources to help eliminate stereotypes and stigma about mental health and addiction in the black community. Through these sessions, we are able to open the doors to have conversations about mental health, redefine what it is, and share knowledge to clarify misconceptions.

Our Mission
Recovery is about progression, not perfection.
FAMHAS was founded to address the prevailing sense of isolation stemming from the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction—a struggle endured by many within our community.
Transforming our perceptions about mental health begins with education, and that’s where our mission starts.
Through our outreach initiatives and educational programs, we aim to dispel stereotypes and reduce stigma associated with mental health and addiction. These sessions serve as gateways, fostering open dialogues, reshaping perceptions about mental health, and offering accurate knowledge to dispel misconceptions.
Our objective is to proactively collaborate with the community, striving to assist all individuals in need.
Our ultimate ambition is to prevent others from experiencing similar hardships and outcomes to those faced by our family.
